It is with mixed feelings that I announce my departure from Dorfman Value Investments. This week, I will be leaving the firm to become Chief Investment Officer of the Hayashi Foundation, an organization based in Kobe, Japan devoted to assisting special needs pets and children.
My time at Dorfman Value Investments has been some of the most pleasurable in my professional career. John and Katharine have treated me as one of the family – always there with kindness and support. I simply wouldn’t be the value investor I am without John’s feedback, recommendations, and education.
I am excited to be joining Haruta, Anna, and the entire Hayashi Foundation team. It is a team I have worked with since 1987. In additional, I will be setting up a small investment company to assist select clients with their investment management needs.
Over the course of the next week or two you will see a lot of the material from this site migrating to www.nintaiinvestments.net along with my new email. We will continue investing in the approach I am most comfortable with – small/mid cap, high returns on capital, equity, assets, no debt, great management, and trading at a significant discount to my estimated intrinsic value. Portfolios will be very focused (20-25 stocks) and the management fee with be on the lower side of 0.75%. A minimum investment of $250,000 USD will be required.
